Frequently Asked Questions: PracticalCME PRP and Microneedling Training in Boston / New England
Clear answers on venue, format, faculty, curriculum, credit hours, scope of practice, and logistics for the Boston / New England clinical-site PRP and Regenerative Aesthetics training. For the full positioning, see the PRP and Regenerative Aesthetics training hub page.
Where is the Boston training venue located?
The PracticalCME New England clinical training site is located in the Greater Boston area under Dr. Wynne Huang, MD. The venue is accessible from Logan International Airport (BOS) and serves aesthetic clinicians across Greater Boston, Cambridge, Worcester, Providence, Manchester NH, Portland ME, Hartford CT, and the broader New England region. The site is a dedicated clinical facility, not a hotel conference room. 2027 marks the debut of this New England clinical site in the PracticalCME network.
What is the live hands-on day like at the Boston session?
The hands-on day runs 5 hours and covers four live stations: PRP blood draw, centrifugation, and injection on face and scalp; PRP for musculoskeletal joint injection; clinical-depth microneedling with and without PRP; and topical exosome application with red LED post-procedure sequencing. The accredited 7.75-hour online CME course is prerequisite and self-paced, so no part of the live Boston day is spent catching up on didactic content. Every attendee performs the full workflow on live patients under direct MD supervision.
Who teaches the Boston session?
Dr. Wynne Huang, MD, Director of the PracticalCME Boston / New England Clinical Training Site, personally leads the live hands-on. Dr. Huang is Tufts University-affiliated and licensed in Massachusetts. The underlying PRP and Regenerative Aesthetics curriculum is authored and continuously revised by Dr. Gregory P. Zengo, MD, FACOG, Founder and Medical Director of PracticalCME, who has taught PRP at the CME level since 2014.
How many hours of CME credit is the Boston PRP training?
12.75 total contact hours: 7.75 ACCME-accredited online CME hours plus a separate 5-hour Hands-On Certificate of Completion. Credit totals are identical at every PracticalCME city. Note that the PRP and Regenerative Aesthetics curriculum does not include nursing pharmacology hours; those are offered on the Botox and Dermal Filler training.
Does the Boston PRP course count for nursing pharmacology hours?
No. Platelet-rich plasma is an autologous biologic, not a pharmaceutical, so the regulatory framework (FDA 361 HCT/P) does not meet the ACCME definition for pharmacology credit. The PracticalCME Botox and Dermal Filler training does award 4.7 nursing pharmacology hours and can be scheduled the same Boston weekend for 23 total contact hours.
What is covered in the PRP curriculum at the Boston session?
The FDA 361 HCT/P regulatory framework for autologous PRP (minimal manipulation, same-day autologous use), 2024 CDC infection control updates for in-office injectable procedures, PRP blood draw and centrifugation technique with multiple kit systems, injection protocols for facial rejuvenation, androgenetic alopecia scalp protocols, PRP for musculoskeletal joint injection in the office setting (knee, shoulder, elbow, hip), and complication management. Patient selection, informed consent, and documentation are covered in depth.
What is covered in the microneedling and adjunct curriculum?
Clinical-depth microneedling technique with and without PRP, device selection and depth settings, topical exosome application and sequencing with microneedling, red LED post-procedure protocol, and combination treatment planning with PRP, microneedling, and exosomes. The Boston hands-on day includes live patient technique at each station.
How much PRP kit and consumables are included for hands-on practice?
Every Boston attendee receives guaranteed PRP kits and consumables (centrifuge tubes, draw supplies, microneedling cartridges, topical exosome units) for live practice on face, scalp, and joint protocols at no additional charge. Supplies are included in tuition and dispensed on the day of the hands-on.
Can I bring my own patients for additional hands-on?
Yes. There is no cap on hands-on if you bring your own suitable patients and purchase additional PRP kits and consumables at below-retail rates on the day of the Boston training. Many providers bring one or two additional patients to extend their supervised experience before performing procedures in their own practice.
How are the hands-on patients recruited and consented?
Every hands-on patient at the Boston training is consented by Dr. Huang as a PracticalCME patient. Attendees never pay the patient, never collect money from the patient, never sign a treatment agreement with the patient, and never carry individual liability for the hands-on treatment. The faculty MD is the treating physician on the record. PracticalCME does not use paid community models who charge the training company.
Which licensed providers can register for the Boston training?
Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physicians (MD and DO), and Dentists (DDS/DMD) where their legal scope of practice allows aesthetic injection. The curriculum covers Massachusetts-specific delegation and supervising physician requirements in detail. Completing a training course does not alter the legal scope of practice for the attendee’s licensure.
Can an RN or NP from another state attend the Boston training on a compact license?
Massachusetts is NOT an RN compact state. RNs from compact states still need to confirm MA licensure or practice under temporary attendance of a CME event only. Dr. Huang is licensed in Massachusetts and is the treating physician on the record for all hands-on patients, which is the legal basis under which the training proceeds. NP licensure is state-specific regardless of RN compact status. NPs from outside Massachusetts attending the Boston training should confirm their own home-state licensure for aesthetic injection before offering the procedure in their own practice.
Is a payment plan available for the Boston training?
Yes. Affirm financing is available at checkout, with rates as low as 0% APR for 6 months for qualified applicants. Longer repayment terms are available at standard APR. Tuition and the Affirm option are published on the product page. There is no sales call to find out the price and no scholarship application process. The accredited online course is accessible immediately upon purchase, and the Boston hands-on component can be scheduled at any available date within the two-year access window.
Why are PracticalCME Boston Aesthetic Training Attendees More Successful?
Our training in Cosmetic PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) debuted in 2014 and was the first CME approved certification course ever. Because over 60 live links to the primary literature, treatment videos and customizable consent forms, support the online FAST TRACK curriculum, the course will prepare you to offer this exciting new procedure to your patients. Then, at the live hands-on training date for PRP, you will dive deeper into indications and patient selection for the procedure and perform a variable-depth microneedling treatment on your patient with one-on-one, MD supervision. You will also spin blood to make PRP and perform PRP injections for aesthetic indications on your own patient.
